This month’s speaker Dr. Chris Khoury will present on “The Allure of the San Dieguito River Park.”

For more than 50 years, the audacious vision to create a regional park along the entire 52 miles of the San Dieguito River watershed, has drawn many volunteers to help make it a reality. In “The Allure of the San Dieguito River Valley”, Chris Khoury will review the history and the current status of this incredible community effort and some of the unique features of the San Diego’s natural world.

Chris’s long standing love and appreciation for the San Diego environment intensified during his docent training for the San Dieguito River Park in 1994. He has been on the Board of Directors of the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy since 1997 and served as president from 1999-2002. As the Land Acquisition Chair for the Conservancy, he led the Conservancy’s efforts in many successful land acquisitions. In 2022, he was elected chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the River Park and now sits on its governing board.
